We trained two small teams on the dog trail today, it’s very tight on some corners, hard packed and fast right now. More than eight dogs is really risking it so we broke up the twelve dogs that are in training right now into two six dog teams.

With two and a half miles left, some of the younger dogs ears perked up and they started looking in the woods. This really can slow a team down so we stopped with about a mile to go. I knew there was something in the woods but it could have been anything, deer, moose, etc. When we got out to the road that’s when I finally saw them about 250-300 yards ahead of the team high tailing it over the top of one of the hills. The dogs saw them too and picked it up an extra gear. They disappeared from sight after we crested the second hill, I’m not exactly sure where they went.I was too slow with the phone in my pocket but I wish you could have seen it! It was pretty cool, and they were very big!

We didn’t see them running the second team and their immediate scent was gone as they didn’t react as the first team did.
